I am pleased to announce the 2006 PVRC Reunion event, which runs the first weekend in June (3rd and 4th) this year! Operations are permitted on 10, 15, 20, 40 & 80 meters on SSB, CW and RTTY, and the times are:
June 3: 1400Z - 1800Z, June 4: 0000Z - 0500Z and 2200Z - 0300Z
As part of the celebration for our 60th year as a club, we made some changes to try and encourage PVRC members to operate this important event. I have attached the complete 2006 rules at the bottom of this email for your review.
In summary – here are the highlights of this event:
PVRC Members work the world on the following modes: SSB, CW, and/or RTTY on 10, 15, 20, 40 & 80 M during any contest time period, and to encourage Multiple QSOs on band/modes with other members, multipliers DO count once for each band!
Packet spotting of your peers, while not a separate category, is strongly encouraged to promote this event. Since activity will be light on 10 & 15 meters, we suggest searching there at the top of each event hour, or moving stations for contacts to these bands. The main purpose of this event is to get PVRC Members chatting with other PVRC Members!
The QSO exchange is simple and fun: The year you became a member, your name, and state, province (or “DC”), or DXCC country. Non-PVRCers skip the year they became a member.
We recommend you try the 'SPRINT' module of your logging program. Use year joined for the number and ensure your logging program will support dupes so that you can work the same station on different modes.
This year, we are going to activate W3GRF (our club call) on multiple band/modes, and I understand W3AU is planning to be active. In addition, our charter member W7YS is expected to be active! All of these stations carry that rare “PVRC” multiplier while they are on.
If you would like a chance to operate in the reunion with W3GRF, please email me the requested operation time, band and mode of your choice. I will do my best to create a schedule of “W3GRF” operations and let everyone have a chance. W3GRF provides a special “PVRC” Multiplier, and we may have some other (yet to be announced) special call signs on the air for this event.
Anthony, WM3T and Howie, N4AF are offering to create some nice award and participation certificates for this event in the following categories:
We will be providing an updated roster/checklist for this event within a week. Please keep an eye on the website for additional reunion announcements/checklists. A copy of the 2006 Reunion rules will also be available from our website, however the rules are at the end of this document also.
This event is already getting great support and the following team members plan to operate:
WX3B, K4ZW, W3DQ (from “DC”!), WM3T, WR3L, N4AF and N4ZR.
Hope to hear you in the reunion!
73,
Your PVRC Reunion Team
